lördag! (saturday... not a cognate, as you can see)

(WITH MORE PICTURES!)

törsdag: woke up late. went to this piece of land they have an old cabin on with lasse, charlie and the dog. it was very pretty, only about 15 minutes away, but it felt like you were out in the middle of nowhere, like going camping in the mountains in idaho. i didn't really have time to take pictures, but i'm sure we'll go back at least once this summer. just picture a tiny cabin with red paint surrounded by lots of storybook forests and permafrosted grass. it'll probably be pretty close! then me, lasse and charlie went to meet this other couple that i will be watching their kid on thursdays (same hours, but a pay increase!) and went to the playground. it was freezing outside and the little ones discovered the magic of metal slides :) here are some pics with my back to the playground:

after that, we came back to the house, and i went off to swedish class! i really like going there, but it's so hard to figure out how to speak it! so far all we've done is read a section from the text, repeat the teacher saying it once, and then she translates almost word for word. we do a bit of listening comprehension too, but virtually no speaking. so i feel like i can understand swedish the best by reading it, then hearing it next, but still feel like i couldn't form a sentence at all and have no clue how to pronounce most of it! (i did try very hard today while listening to the family speak to each other to focus on words i already know and figure out which word goes where, how it translates, and how they said it. plus, my ipod has a few chapters of my 'teach yourself swedish' sections on it for the basics.) long story short: my swedish is improving, but in a completely different way than i'm used to learning a language. so anyway, that was my thursday. these pictures are of the ride to örebro and my fun little seat-mate!

fredag: we went to gustavsvik! i think that's what it's called... the family told me it was an 'adventure-bathhouse'. it's actually a bunch of swimming pools (regular lap ones, kiddie pools, a wave pool, and one heated pool outdoors), a tube slide (which i didn't go on... camel's back has ruined me forever) and a big 'wild river' slide (which i would've drowned in twice if lasse hadn't pulled me back up! i think it was cos there were too many teenagers in it, and maybe i'm getting too old to handle it, haha.) after that we ate at the buffet there... it's no golden corrall, but it definitely tasted better! this is looking out the entrance and waiting in the lobby:

then we came home and i took the dog, bella, for a walk. she's a mostly black dalmation, not a firetruck or disney one. this is where i'll explain the walk in pictures! (and yes, it was cold in spite of the sunshine):

first, i went through the mini-forest behind the house....

walk all the way to the end of the path, turn right and you will see this! (this is so exciting, isn't it? haha)

further on, i reached swedish suburbs (compare these to american ones).

turn right at the end of the suburbs to walk back and there is this view (a train cuts right through the middle, behind the red fence).

walk down the path back to the house (not a swedish suburb-y type of neighborhood) and there it is on the end, the big one!

and then lasse left for america for the next 10 days, so now me, susanne, and the kids can do whatever we want! which brings me to.....
lördag!: woke up and stayed in all day!
(okay, i did go outside once, taking bella for a mini-version of the above walk). the same family i met thursday came over for lunch; me, susanne, and louise watched lots of girlie tv shows, and finished off the day by watching the swedish preliminaries of the eurovision song contest! tomorrow we're going to marieberg, a shopping center that has the ikea and an H&M i mentioned last time. but for now, i think it's time for bed... i need to beat this jet lag once and for all! x
